چکیده

PurposeTo explore the feasibility and validity of ultrasound in diagnosis discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) by comparing quantitatively morphologic difference between DLM normal meniscus.MethodsThis study was designed to develop validate diagnostic criterion for DLM. In development stage (July 2018 June 2019), data from 180 subjects were used derive criterion, including 90 patients diagnosed as magnetic resonance imaging (DLM group) matched controls (control group). Ipsilateral Medial and Lateral Discoid Meniscus with Medial Meniscus Tear

INTRODUCTION Discoid meniscus is a well-documented knee pathology, and there are many cases of medial or lateral discoid meniscus reported in the literature. However, ipsilateral concurrent medial and lateral discoid meniscus is very rare, and only a few cases have been reported. Herein, we report a case of concurrent medial and lateral discoid meniscus. CASE REPORT A 27-year-old Japanese man...

Diagnosis and Treatment of Discoid Meniscus

There is a greater incidence of discoid meniscus in Asian countries than in Western countries, and bilateral discoid menisci are also common. The discoid meniscus may be a congenital anomaly, and genetics or family history may play a role in the development of discoid menisci. Because the histology of discoid meniscus is different from that of normal meniscus, it is prone to tearing. Individual...

Discoid meniscus.

The discoid meniscus is probably a congenital deviation that usually occurs laterally. The Watanabe classification consists of complete, incomplete, or Wrisburg ligament types. Complete and incomplete discoid menisci normally require treatment only when a tear occurs. The Wrisburg ligament type lacks a posterior capsular attachment. The preferred treatment is repair of the posterior capsular di...

An atypical symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus in a toddler

Meniscal tears and meniscal instability are rare complications of a discoid lateral meniscus in a very young child. We report a case of a 32-month-old male who presented with a limp and limited extension of his right knee. Magnetic resonance and sonographic images demonstrated a discoid meniscus with a posterior horn tear and unstable anterior horn, confirmed by arthroscopy. The patient was tre...

Discoid lateral meniscus: prevalence of peripheral rim instability.

The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of peripheral rim instability in discoid lateral meniscus. A consecutive series of 112 patients (128 knees) (mean age 10.0 years [range 1 month to 22 years]) who underwent arthroscopic evaluation and treatment of a discoid lateral meniscus between 1993 and 2001 was reviewed. Of those discoid menisci classified intraoperatively (n = 87), ...
